"Exceptional staff, although 1 or 2 mor niggles,..."

About: Royal Stoke University Hospital

What I liked

Triaged within 5 minutes of arrival at A&E and immeadiately transferred to majors. The staff all worked well together and I was treated with dignity and respect. Nursing staff were exceptional in their care, ensuring I was as comfrotable as possible whilst in severe pain and nothing was too much trouble for them. The transfer to ward 227 was smooth and effective, and the same level of care was received on the ward.

I was informed about my treatment at every stage and concerns were noted.

What could be improved

For a new build I would have expected air conditioning to have been installed as standard rather than relying on fans to keep patients cool on the ward. Also the time taken to discharge from the ward needs improving as it took 7.5 hours from my consultant discharging me to me being able to leave the hospital with my medication, even then I did not have the discharge letter as it hadn't been done!

Anything else?

Told by consultant my operation would be at least two week away, received phone call from his secetary the follwoing afternoon to say the operation had been scheduled for the friday after discharge. That was quick!
