"Gall Bladder Surgery"

About: Victoria Hospital / General Surgery Victoria Hospital / SEAL (Surgical Elective Admission Lounge)

(as the patient),

On the day of the operation, I was quite anxious initially but was put at ease when the Surgeon explained the procedure and answered my questions in a very calming tone of voice. It was a strange experience to walk from the SEAL area to the operating theatre as opposed to going to theatre on a bed! The Anesthetist and his team were very thorough in double checking my details and we had a brief conversation about robotic lawn mowers before I was knocked out for the operation. After what seemed to be five minutes, woke to someone calling my name and then I was taken up to ward 52 on what I must say, a very comfortable bed.   The key hole surgery went well but I was kept in for one night just to make sure. During the night I experienced palpitations and pressed the buzzer at around 2 a. m.   Nurses Rachel & Nicola came straight away and conducted an ECG. Anyway, I was allowed home the next day. I would like to thank Mr MacMillan and his team for the excellent care that I received. Special thanks to Nurses Rachel, Nicola, Kelly and Scott. Not forgetting, Arthur who brought me tea and biscuits.

Dear Oldun,

Firstly thank you for taking the time to leave some feedback via Care Opinion.

I am delighted to hear that your journey through the SEAL unit went as planned and whilst we know it can be daunting, I am reassured that you were put at ease by the Surgeon and nursing staff and your procedure went well.

I will pass on your comments to the SEAL staff, who I know will be chuffed to hear your praise.

Many thanks again and may I wish you a speedy recovery.

Kind regards

Craig
