I am a staff nurse in day surgery who was looking after a 90year old lady who was in for a procedure who was awaiting hospital transport to go home when we received a call from Clackmannan community hospital alerting us that this ladies husband was a patient with themselves who is palliative. They asked us if we would kindly ask the lady if she would like to come and stay a few nights by her husbands side in his final days. This made the full day surgery department beam with pride for our nhs staff for their kind and caring thought. Well done Clackmannan community hospital you put a smile on the ladies face and the day surgery department.

Dear SNdaysurgery

Thank you seems a very small thing to say for the story you have posted. The couple have been married for 71 years, the only ask from our patient was that he had his wife with him, how could we not make that happen, we are in such a privileged position to be able to help patients and their loved ones. I am really proud of the staff working together to achieve the wishes of our patient and his wife.

I have shared your posting with the entire team, it shows how the work we do doesn't just have an impact of the people we care for, it is much bigger than that, and I am very fortunate to have such a great team of staff, and your kind and thoughtful words really mean a lot to them.
