"Outpatients reception"

About: Nuffield Health, Derby Hospital

I attend the hospital regularly for consultations, scans, etc.

What have you done to the outpatients reception and waiting area?

I know it is subjective, but I think it is awful!

Facing reception, it looks like a public men’s urinal with nothing breaking up those dreadful large glossy white tiles - so cold and unwelcoming.

The seating area itself - whoever designed it needs to realise they have reduced the availability of seating to such an extent, it was standing room only the other evening.

People do not want to sit around little coffee tables facing strangers - it is a hospital waiting room, not a coffee shop.

My companion and myself were forced to sit away from each other, because only one seat was free at various tables. One last point, I appreciate the receptionists are extremely busy dealing with the queue of people, and I know the hospital are not responsible for human behaviour, but they really need to manage the queue in a way that prevents, as far as possible, the people who ‘push in’ in front of those of us who respectfully stand back to give people privacy.

No less than three individuals pushed in front of me the other evening, including, I am disappointed to say, a clinical member of staff ( HCA/nurse).
