My husband, normally fit & well, had an episode of chest tightening, left arm numbness/pain & nausea, and when this hadn’t resolved after around 3 hours we went to A&E. We arrived just after 9.00pm, and left at 11.30pm. Every member of staff that dealt with us -the nurse that triaged and did basic obs, phlebotomist taking blood, the HCA performing the ECG, the radiologist performing the x-ray and all the different Doctors we saw – were all friendly, cheery, thorough, and supportive, and we were given full information at every stage about what was happening and why. There were numerous examinations performed and at all times my husband was listened to and spoken to with respect and consideration. Thankfully, there wasn’t an acute problem that needed any further attention but we weren’t made to feel it had been a waste of time coming, quite the opposite, we were told we had done exactly the right thing, and we were also given info on what to do/where to go next.
In a world where people are ready to complain we both wanted to commend the staff at CUH and for the system working so well, meaning we were in & out in 2.5 hours. Thank you all.
"Excellent care in A&E"
