"Another, very dismissive!"

About: Royal Derby Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat

I have to agree with a previous reviewer about the consultant that I have just seen. I was referred here for chronic sinusitis nearly 5 months ago and was relieved to finally start getting some answers and appropriate treatment. However it quickly became apparent that that was not going to happen today! The consultant was rude, dismissive and extremely patronising, again, like the other review states, using the term "completely normal" several times and even making a point of writing it on my notes with an exclamation mark after it. I felt that he completely undermined my own thoughts and feelings about my own body!! Perhaps these things weren't important to him. Because I wasn't displaying any symptoms currently I now have to go back in 4 months for another assessment and CT scan, although how I'm going to coordinate the appointment with being symptomatic God only knows. I have already requested that my next appointment is with someone else. I understand the job is probably extremely stressful and that the consultants are pressed for time but it's not really an excuse for behaviour like that and I've left the hospital realising that I didn't get chance to ask the questions I wanted to because he couldn't get me out of the door quick enough. I do feel I should point out that the reception staff and the nurse that I saw were extremely polite and professional, hats off to them.
