"Discharged for missing a hospital appointment despite being treated for memory problems"

About: Guy's Hospital / General medicine St Thomas' Hospital / Neurology

(as the patient),

I have type 1 diabetes and have been treated for that along with memory problems I have had since I had a DKA (diabetic keto-acidosis) coma 4 years ago. I had an appointment to see the doctor at the hospital but forgot. When I called to try and re-arrange the appointment I was told that I had been discharged from the hospital for missing my appointment. If I wanted / needed any further treatment I would need to be re-referred from my GP. Even when I pointed out that I had memory issues I was told that made no difference whatsoever.

This is just ridiculous and is now causing me a great deal of stress. Surely this should not be allowed to happen.
