"28hr wait."

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

My 76yr old sister who has severe COPD plus other problems, has been sitting on hard chair for over 28 hours waiting for a bed. They have given 2 doses of antibiotics and are aware she is struggling to breathe but when requested use of a nebulizer she had to wait for over an hour to be brought one. This is a disgusting way to treat an elderly person. There is a sign on wall warning of 12 hour wait but surely 28hrs is beyond a joke.

Response from Medway Maritime Hospital

We are very sorry to learn that your sister had to wait so much longer than either she or we would like to be admitted to a bed and cared for on a ward. We would like to learn more about your sister's poor experience. Please do contact our PALS Team (patient advice and liaison service) and provide them with your sisters details. They can be contacted on 01634 825004 or medwayft.pals@nhs.net.

We hope your sister is soon on the mend from this episode of ill health.

Kindest regards,

The Patient Experience Team
