"Reception and nurses great - poor doctor"

About: Saddleworth Medical Practice

As I couldn’t get through on the phone I walked to the surgery and was told the first appointment was in July (it is now May). The receptionist was lovely and found me an appointment the same day (a cancellation that had just come in). The doctor I saw was very uncommunicative and seemed uncomfortable with what I was talking about (menopause related). I explained I was deaf and needed him to look at me and speak a little louder, he ignored this completely and continued to talk into his computer in a low mumble. The upshot - a 3 minute appointment where I was told to make an appointment for blood tests and then another appointment ‘with a female doctor’. Since when can only female doctors deal with the menopause? Bloods are booked - 2 weeks away, and the doctors appointment probably in July. I left in tears as I felt the doctor thought I was wasting his time - he asked one question -‘so you’re not suicidal then?’. I felt humiliated and looks like I have another two months of no sleep ahead of me. The reception staff and nurses are great - I think they are working under ridiculous conditions.
