"You have a choice so do not have your baby here!"

About: William Harvey Hospital / Maternity

I gave birth to my son at another hospital. After a long labour my son started to show signs of distress and I was given an emergency section. He was born in perfect health and for this I am grateful. My experience as a patient was terrible. Mainly related to the ‘care’ received after his delivery. I liken it to how I imagine wards were for patients during the war. The beds were stacked on top of each other. Boiling hot rooms, constant noise due to sheer number of people shoved into the rooms. With the exception of 1 lovely midwife who helped me try to breastfeed I was left and was made to feel a nuisance when I asked for help. One nurse actually scolded me and made me feel useless at a time when I was the most vulnerable. Despite insisting I wasn’t well enough to be discharged I was, only to be blue lighted back with an infection in my c section wound. I was then in a room alone but advised not to have my baby with me overnight. All of my post birth experiences contributed to post natal depression. It is only now that I feel strong enough to share my experience. I am pregnant with my second child after a miscarriage which was picked up at William Harvey. Again any sign of compassion or empathy were lacking. Safe to say my next child will not be born here and already my experience at medway has been worlds apart. Do your research before delivering a baby here. Check out Care opinion for more reviews.
