"Helpful and competent staff"

I went to this hospital for an eye examination. Staff were very helpful & competent

I arrived a little early & the examination started before the appointment time. All the tests were done quickly with a minimum of waiting time.

I have lived in Scotland now for 3 years, having spent 50 years in Switzerland & France.

The helpfulness of the Hairmyres staff was typical of what I have experienced in Scottish hospitals, but I must say the NHS compares poorly with my experience in Europe. I think the NHS is too big an organization & I feel I am at its "mercy", waiting to be informed about upcoming appointments. In France I never waited more than a few days for an appointment, being able to choose which clinic & what date/time. I was the client & the system was there to serve me.
