"Horrid time"

About: Russells Hall Hospital / Maternity

From start to finish of having my daughter in October 2015, I had quite a bad experience. I never experienced movement all through my pregnancy, although one sonographer assured me I would due to having a posterior placenta. Due to having to constantly be monitored towards the end of pregnancy, it was arranged to see a consultant and be induced. The process in itself upset me- I had a couple of doctors come in and whisper between themselves but no-one told me and partner why. I wasnt allowed pain relief until I was transferred to a delivery suite, and each midwife we had during the labour was different. No-one bothered to tell me I could walk around the ward, and when I was distressed through the contractions not progressing no midwife was bothered. My daughter was born safely, however has mild cerebral palsy- something I'm convinced the non movement was an indicator, yet was fobbed off by them saying my baby was lazy. I felt like my care throughout the pregnancy wasn't treated seriously until my child was measuring small at one of my check ups. I wouldn't reccomend Russell's hall hospital.
