"Worst GP Practice"

About: Lister Medical Centre

This GP practice is appalling and shockingly bad. Whenever you try and call you can never get through and when you do they can't give you an appointment. The customer service also leave little to be desired.

I need my GP to sign a form basically saying i haven't had any mental health issues for my new job and they charged me £125 . Given that i'm in my 20's and my medical history is probably really short as i have always been healthy this is a job that should take no more than 10 mins. Highway robbery at it'd finest.

This practice have built a new building, but what's the point when it's still understaffed? what are you supposed to do when you're sick but it's not an emergency but at the same time you can't wait two months for an appointment .

The only thing keeping me at this practice is location but as soon as i start driving I'm switching. they don't care about you as a patient or person which is appalling considering my tax money is paying them.

Steer Clear !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear anonymous patient

Thank you for your review - I am sorry that you have not left your details as I would have welcomed the opportunity to discuss the issues you have raised with you.

In relation to the private work you mention, GPs can charge for the completion of a range of non-NHS work.

Often, the forms require that the doctor looks through the complete medical record in order to answer the questions.

They are writing reports and completing forms which they then sign as complete and truthful, and therefore the information must be correct and the fee is based on the amount of time taken to do this.

If a patient needs to see a doctor there are always urgent appointments available for matters that cannot wait.

Routine appointments are for ongoing medical matters when patients usually see their regular doctor.

We are looking at ways of improving the number of these routine appointments - this is a challenge due to the reduced number of doctors being trained currently to be GPs and is a national problem.

We would like to assure you that we are doing our best to meet the huge demand on the service.

With best wishes

Karen Cakmak - Practice Manager
