On Friday, 26th April 2019 I telephoned the Villages Medical Centre for advice as I was experiencing pain in my bowel due to constipation. I had already taken Fybogel with no effect.
My doctor prescribed, via the receptionist, Laxidol and arranged for me to collect the prescription that day with further advice on how to take the medicine. However, by the weekend the pain had worsened and the Laxidol was having no effect and I was obliged to call 111.
A doctor called and examined me and gave me medication and
I was advised to call my GP on Monday, 29th April.
Without any question, a home visit was arranged for that day.
My GP called at 1pm and prescribed further medication and advice and gave me a thorough examination.
However, by Tuesday 30th April nothing had worked and I was in severe pain.
I called the surgery and spoke to one of our GPs who arranged for an ambulance to take me to A&E where I was given an enema.
As a result I was 24 hour bowel incontinent and I called 111 on the 6th May, at night, for advice as
I was becoming extremely distressed.
I was advised to contact the surgery the next morning and if my condition worsened to call an ambulance.
On Tuesday, 7th May I called the surgery and the receptionist arranged a home visit because
I had been 24 hour bowel incontinent from 30th April. My GP gave me a further examination and further advice. The incontinence ceased after 7 days. Constipation is a subject rarely discussed but I can vouch for the fact that the pain I experienced was no laughing matter and I seriously thought I had a much more serious condition. I cannot fault the experience I had from my GP practice.
From the kindly receptionists, who arranged my appointments, to each doctor who dealt with my condition,
I received nothing but kindness and care.
I believe we are very fortunate in having the Villages Medical Centre for our Primary Care.
