"Incredibly caring and dedicated stand of ward 209"

Having stayed on ward 209 for two nights I felt I had to share the fantastic level of care and support I received from all staff on ward 209. From the health care assistants who made me feel safe and comfortable which such a great deal of dignity, respect and empathy for my situation. They gave me so much person centred care and choice. Whether taking my regular observations, blood tests or asking if there was anything else I needed, it was always a warm, friendly and personal interaction. The nurses who despite being clearly incredibly busy were professional, thorough yet person centred in everything they did. They ensured I was clear on the treatment I was receiving and would keep me updated on progress in my treatment and results. The consultants were warm and friendly and discussed my treatment options in clear understandable terms which allowed me to make informed decisions about my treatment and my care. The junior doctors were also extremely approachable, gentle and honest in their discussions with me and treatment they provided. I hope that all staff are aware of the fantastic job they are doing and would like to express my deep gratitude for their support during my stay with them. I would like to just mention that when I was transferred from resus to ward 209, I had been started on a blood transfusion (my first I’ve ever received) and after 15 minutes, was moved to ward 209 where I was told by the fantastic nurse there, that I should not have been transferred mid way through the transfusion due to the possible risks of a bad reaction to the transfusion. However, this was the only negative experience of otherwise gold standard care.
