"Very Happy patient - Minor excision"

About: Barnet Hospital / Dermatology

Today I visited Barnet General hospital for a minor procedure to remove a lesion on my back. When attending the hospital I was greeted with very pleasant and welcoming staff members, in the dermatological department. When waiting in the patient waiting area for no more than 5mins, the surgeon came out to assure me that I wouldn't be waiting long and that I would be seen very soon. I was then called into the surgeons room very promptly and was welcomed by a very pleasant and lovely Nurse and Surgeon. They both made me feel very comfortable and reassured me that the procedure and excision will go smoothly and procedure was thoroughly explained and was given advice and more about after care. I was made to feel very comfortable and at ease, as I was nervous and anxious about the procedure. I was very surprised and never expected to have such a lovely experience, I couldn't ask for more. The surgeon and nurse spoke with me all the way through the procedure, which put me at ease and what a lovely conversation it was. Working in the NHS can be very stressful and busy at times but never did I feel like I was just another patient and that all my needs was met and more. The surgeon clearly knew and understand patient first policy and was very accommodating. As a NHS worker myself, working in a very busy GP surgery, I have learnt a few things from this experience and these lovely people, realising how important it is to have a very good professional manner and making patients feel comfortable. I have had not so good experiences with the NHS myself and also had a very typical judgement but today these two people have changed my views to a very positive one. I would like to say thank you and wish them all the best and hope this review is recognised and that both nurse and surgeon is informed of this. The experience has made me realise that our NHS is the best. From a very happy patient Kaya Neita-Szypusz.
