A little bit of praise is very much required!
My dad attended respiratory outpatient clinic w, as usual I accompanied him. Sadly my dad has had various admissions to university hairmyres over the last few years.
On each occasion he has been treated with the upmost grace, dignity and respect.
I do however have to add, his follow up care has been tremendous whether this be by the respiratory nurses or chest physician themselves. He has been under the care of the same consultant for the last 18months and I hope she never retires anytime soon!!!
As I say he attended his appointment on Tuesday - the consultant took time, listened to all my dads needs and anxieties. One of which was can he fly? Now I know there will be little chance of this being an option however, she never threw it out the window she simply told him- let’s do the investigations to see if you can!
He is now on the maximum treatment for his condition but she didn’t stop there- she’s referring him to see if he can qualify for a new form of medication that will help improve his quality of life.
She sat, listened with interest- never once did she look at a clock or insinuate we were over our time.
The consultant was amazing!!!
I have realised for a very long time why waiting times can be lengthily and my dad is a prime example of that- an ear to listen to if not listening to the expert helps him cope so much better with his condition and for that I will never complain about appointments running over there given time.
For the care, follow up that my dad has received we could never afford if it wasn’t for our NHS and for that we are truly thankful!!
I will now sign this off from an extremely grateful and thankful family-
xx
