"Coagulation Clinic"

About: Kingston Hospital / Clinical haematology

After diagnosis of a blood clot, following a routine operation at Kingston Hospital, I was referred to the coagulation clinic. I am rather puzzled and confused by this department. My first appointment (after my A&E experience) was a month after the diagnosis. It was the most pointless waste of time. The clinic didn't seem to have a record of my appointment and I was just asked one question - are you okay with the medication? Took less than 5 minutes (could have asked me over the phone and saved me taking a morning off work. Didn't do anything or ask any other questions - just seemed rather bored that I had turned up - as if I had forced them into the appointment and was wasting their time. Was initially told to take the tablets for 6 months -but they then told me I would probably need to take them for 9 months as they couldn't guarantee an appointment within 5 months. Then I get a garbled, barely understandable phone message telling me my appointment was 18th, no 19 July and a phone number to ring up and confirm. Phoned up, no record of this appointment or of any appointment for me so had probably phoned me in error. Is this normal?
