"zone 1 outpatients receptionists"

About: The Tunbridge Wells Hospital

I had an appointment with the ENT . as expected a lengthy wait , but that was no bother . However i I am appalled by the state of your receptionists appearance and behaviour. One looked like she had rolled out of bed , and rude and robotic to all patients . There were no welcoming smiles . Staff just sit, drinking coffee and chatting about “ holidaying and places where they would like to travel”- completely irrelevant to their work. Their personal chat stopped them from booking in patients who waited in a lengthy queue . Secondly , I was appalled by one receptionist's behaviour . Who spoke to a another member of staff transporting equipment with absolutely no respect . She confronted this innocent member of staff in front of patients ; leaving him embarrassed and humiliated. The receptionist continued to role her eyes and pull rude and undignified faces once the member of staff had left the room . I think it is disgusting that this behaviour is considered to be okay. I think the NHS need to reconsider who they hire.

It took a lot for me to sit here witnessing such disgusting behaviour from a considered professional.

I felt truly sorry for the member of staff who was made to feel foolish- no one deserves that.
