I was admitted to A&E via ambulance with a (very very obvious) broken wrist to Queens Hospital Romford. I waited over 3 hours to be seen by a doctor - I had to have my broken wrist reset TWICE with only gas and air (Doctor wouldn’t administer an anaesthetic) and the pain was unbearably excruciating. Sent home and told all was OK.
I visited fracture clinic 9 days later, the consultant was concerned that emergency surgery was not performed on the wrist when I was admitted to A&E.
The consultant wanted to admit me that day for surgery, but no beds were available. Surgery was planned for the next day - but then cancelled because no beds were available.
I have been given a phone number to book a bed myself! What next DIY surgery?
Yes, in my opinion, it's poor reputation is justly deserved.
