About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Endoscopy and day care

(as the patient),

After blood tests that failed to reveal the cause of stomach pains that I had been experiencing, my GP referred me for an endoscopy at Forth Valley Royal hospital.   My appointment came within 3 weeks on the 8th May 2019.   I was seen by a nurse  15 minutes early and she explained the procedure, checked previous and current medical conditions and medication, asked if I had any questions and, overall prepared me  very wellfor the endoscopy.   All in all I was treated by this nurse in a friendly and highly professional manner (unfortunately, I failed to get her name).   I then had a short time to wait before I was led into the room where the endoscopy took place.   All the medical staff in the room (ie. , Stella, Emma, Heather and Charley) were excellent throughout the process. The doctor who undertook the actual endoscopy was very welcoming, put me at my ease and explained how the endoscopy would be conducted and again encouraged me to ask any questions that might be worrying me.   Likewise the nursing staff were terrific before, during and after the procedure in providing support and encouragement throughout.   After the procedure the doctor explained the findings in a clear way and how the condition would be treated.   I left feeling reassured and pleased that the endoscopy had been undertaken. I would like to thank all the staff that I met for their kind and expert attention.

We appreciate that it can be an anxious time attending for an endoscosopy procedure. I am glad to hear that you felt staff helped and supported you before, during and after your procedure. I am also glad to hear you felt encouraged to ask an questions, relating to anything you were worried about or treating your condition.
