"Waiting to see a neurologist"

About: General practices in Greater Glasgow & Clyde Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Neurosurgery (Ward 64 – 66)

(as a service user),

My Mum was urgently referred to a neurologist months ago after losing power in her legs. She is currently in the Queen Elizabeth hospital who have been trying to chase up the neurologist. She's in a worse state now than she was when she went in. I've now been told she'll have to go home with no idea when she'll see one. She can't walk, is completely housebound and is losing feeling in her arms now but according to the hospital and GP this isn't an emergency!

Dear CLJ

I am sorry to read that your Mum is having such a difficult time and I understand that this is a worrying time for all the family. Please pass on my apologies to your Mum regarding her wait for a Neurology appointment and for the additional upset and distress that this is causing.

Would you be able to contact me at Nicole.McInally@ggc.scot.nhs.uk with your Mum’s details (e.g. name and date of birth) and I will ask the Clinical Service Manager to look into this further.

Thank you

Nicole
