"A++ Great staff and facilities."

About: Hull Royal Infirmary

What I liked

I was 2 weeks overdue with my baby boy and so I was brought in on a Saturday morning to be induced.

Sadly, they had a sudden influx of spontaneous births and emergency c-sections so I wasn't taken to the labour ward until 1.30am on Sunday morning.

I have no complaints about this, or the staff..but some of the other patients were horrendous. abusive and the language was appalling. I was on the verge of saying 'I'll come back tomorrow!' but persisted. The no smoking rule needs to be more strictly enforced within the grounds. The stink of cigarettes was very offputting. it clung to everything inside and out of the ward.

Labour ward was lovely, and the midwifery team so very kind and reassuring-I was kept informed 100% of the time and my partner felt very included in the whole process. From Consultant to catering staff-I couldn't fault their professionalism and courtesy.

Speaking of catering, I'm a vegetarian and the food was great. Served hot and by lovely staff who got little thanks from some of the awful patients.

Thank you Hull Women and Childrens. My son was eventually delivered by emergency c-section on Sunday morning and he's doing brilliantly. Special thanks to the anaesthesia /theatre team who were so kind to me (I was terrified) lovely, lovely people.

What could be improved

enforcement of no smoking within the grounds.
