I'm an amputee, had my leg off in September, had 5 sockets made since then and one of the times they forgot to put in the hardener. When I was down a month ago I was told it would be one or two weeks for the prosthetic to be made, its been a month, I'm disgusted, I don't know where to turn next. I'm so so frustrated and so so down.
The physio has been great but prosthetic has been such a let down. I've done everything the physio has asked, got super fit, but the sockets they have made have been inadequate and fallen off. They've made loads of excuses, its just the shape of my leg. It feels like they are trying to pan me off onto a wheelchair,
My OT physio got me into the local gym to try and get me back into the right headspace, I just want to mentally get back up and move with my life- the prosthetics department just build my hopes all up and then hit me with 'problems in the workshop'. Well thats not my problem as a patient, at the end of the day, I've had my leg off since September, it is not unreasonable to expect to have had some help by now.
It just seems like an absolute disaster, seems to be far far too many patients for the staff, even in the Gym. I feel they don't spend any time with you, tell you to do something and then walk away and you just have to figure our what to do yourself, just not enough staff.
I've even tried to go private, but no one wants to touch an NHS patient, just say, we don't do that here. Feel like I'm in limbo
