"Not a good surgery"

About: The Lawson Practice

Very long to get someone on the phone. It is no longer possible to book an appointment with the GP as it is necessary to pre-book a same day call back and there is no availability... I've been told that I need to hurry pre-booking at 8am in the mornings to have a chance for an appointment.

So basically I have a problem and no possibility to see or even talk on the phone with a GP. This is non sense...

I'm sorry to hear you have struggled with our appointment system. In order to increase our capacity we have switched some months back to asking patients to book a telephone appointment first. We will ring back and talk to you and decide with you whether you need to be seen.

We have had dreadful problems with our telephone systems having put in new systems to try and improve things for people. We are really sorry about this. We are trying to sort it but it is taking some time for BT to be able to correct the problem. We think it shouldn't be too much longer.

You can pre-book the day before although I recognise these appointments go fast. You can also contact us via our new on-line service if you are really struggling. You will find this service on our website. We also have a duty doctor system for emergencies. We would love to have more doctors so that we could offer more appointments but it is impossible to recruit. We continue to try.

Apologies again but keep trying please because when it works, it works well.
