My father a 87 year old man received his admission appointment letter to go into ARI for a bladder operation. He was told to arrive at the DOSA Department at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary at 7.00am which we did he was examined by the nurse then seen by the anaesthetist taking us up to 8.30am. We sat in a side interview room for the next five and a half hours waiting for the theatre nurse to come and take my father down to the theatre for his procedure. We are very grateful to the staff in the department who were very kind and understanding towards our situation.
We would like this complaint to be looked into and explained to us why a 7.00am admission was required for an operation which was not performed until seven plus hours later. We live one hour from Aberdeen which meant that we had to leave home at 5.30am to make sure we arrived on time this is most unsatisfactory for anyone let alone a 87 year old.
"Having to wait seven hours before operation"
