What I liked

Everything involved with my personal treatment, from the time I met the Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon on 16th December 2011 until the completion of my right hip replacement on 2nd March 2012 and continual wonderful care from everyone involved in Dickens Ward, Bay 2, until I left there on 9th March. I was so impressed with the attention from all concerned from the very friendly and assuring nurses who admitted a very nervous patient on the morning of the 2nd ! to the constant really friendly caring treatment the whole time on the ward. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. My operation was very successful thanks to the consultant and the doctor from Trauma & Orthopaedics, was a very welcome friendly and really caring constant visitor to the patients. He quickly dealt with any worries I had. The porter was a lovely friendly person, seemed to really enjoy her work, and again reassuring when transporting patients to and from X-rays etc. - such an important role for patients. She helped me so much even as I left the hospital - not part of her duty either I believe. She should be valued for her kindness and extremely friendly attidude. I cannot speak too hghly of the Ashford Hospital Physio treatment. Here again, the Physio has a really caring friendly feeling. The Physiotherapists are great, and I am just off to have a 3rd Hydrotherapy spell this afternoon. The male and females are so caring and the girls in the pool at the moment are great. I believe I will be having a 2nd hip replacement at some time, and I feel confident about it because of my experience at Ashford Hospital. It seems that 'Patients First' certainly applies at Ashford. I really wasn't expecting everything to be so good..
