I was checked in to ward 3E due to a low hemoglobin 73... I was quickly dealt with and had blood samples taken to see the best way forward. I then had a blood transfusion of one pint of blood.
About approx 8hrs later another blood sample was taken and my hemoglobin count was 87... I then felt much better and a full explanation of my condition was explained to me by the shift doctor.
48hrs has now passed and the care and attention from all of the nursing staff has been excellent, and the meals most enjoyable. Much too often the NHS has been criticised for "silly things" by the general public rather than take into account that they do exceptionally well with limited resources. Over the last 20 months I have been involved with various departments of the NHS, from an operation: quintuple bypass surgery at The Golden Jubilee (Doctor Nair), re-habilitation from the cardiac team at the Ayrshire central hospital, and last but not least my own GPs at my local surgery.
Talking from personal experience, I only have praise for the NHS.... "Keep up the good work"
