A&E department looks great and is very clean but the service is still poor and requires work... No one wants to go to A&E, you go because you have to and my situation was no different. My mum woke up in absolute agony on Good Friday, her legs had given way and she couldn’t move without being in pain. I took her to the Emergency department, firstly I was waiting to be seen by reception for approx 4 minutes when there were 2 receptionists at the desk albeit one was on a call. After registering I waited with my mother to be seen by triage nurse, when called we entered a very clean looking cubicle but the reception received by the nurse was quiet frankly disgusting. I told her of my mothers symptoms and she started of by saying it’s a bank holiday and staffing is low as well as us being busy you could’ve gone to your doctor! - no okay we will get her seen but in future you may want to consider a dr first but straight in making us feel like we were a burden. I did not expect to be spending my good Friday in A&E I wasnt there out of choice but necessity. The nurses lacked social skills, I know they are busy and I know it’s a good Friday but you don’t speak to patients like that. Attitudes like this is what let’s the profession down. I was so disappointed and hurt by these comments and yes I explained what I have written here to the nurse and then she was like I was just saying... Wexham Park May have a shiny new building but unless the staff clean up their act the service they provide will continue to be below standard. Perhaps management could send their staff on social skill courses because they could certainly do with them. I am so grateful I accompanied my mum, I hate to think how she would’ve spoken to her if she was on her own. I have no doubt that this nurse has left patients feeling like a burden and not worthy of ttreatmwnt. I
"looks great but service is appalling!!!"
