Salford is an utterly brilliant hospital. I arrived at A&E at 9am and had my appendix out by 9pm on the same day. Every member of staff I encountered was friendly and helpful from A&E reception/triage all the way to the on call consultant on STU. The system was clearly stretched and very busy but it didn’t stop anyone from trying their hardest and doing their job with a smile on their face. I spent only a few hours in A&E, but they were efficient and kind. I then went to STU and was treated for my symptoms and assessed by the surgical team. I was kept in the loop at all times and frequently had members of STU staff check up on me in the lead up to surgery whilst managing my symptoms. The surgical and anaesthetic teams explained everything very clearly, were happy to answer any of my questions and concerns and made my first experience of general anaesthetic as good as it could have possible been. The night staff on STU were brilliant at making me comfortable and feel at home despite being on a ward. The following day the nursing and surgical team on STU checked up on me and clearly explained the plan going forward so I felt more than happy going home later that day informed about things to keep an eye out for and how to maximise my recovery. Thanks you very much to everyone I encountered during my brief stay!
