I’ve worked in healthcare for over two decades. I am therefore very aware of the everyday challenges of working in the NHS during the current climate, including staff shortages and ever increasing complex care with expanding patient numbers. I cannot fault the experience I had following a referral to Gynaeoncology at the Royal Surrey. I found the staff - nursing, junior doctors, registrars, the anaesthetist, ODP, universally caring, compassionate and professional. Information and details were checked every step of the way, staff coordinated well with each so that there was very little waiting experienced which is reassuring in a stressful situation. My dignity was protected at all times, and all clinical areas I encountered were clean and tidy. Staff were respectful, good humoured and friendly which helped to put me at ease, this was much appreciated as I attended all of my appointments, including admission, alone. The nursing and recovery team were short staffed during my admission but this was in no way evident from the speed of care and professional, engaging demeanour of those on duty. I hope this feedback gets relayed to those directly involved in my care as I was very grateful, and impressed. Please keep up the good work, it means so much to those on the receiving end of your skill and care. I would not hesitate to recommend this department and hospital to others. Thank you so much.
