In April 2012, I underwent a colonoscopy as part of investigations to find the cause of my abdominal pain and find a cause for some other abnormal test results.
While the colonoscopy itself was painful at times, the staff (both the doctor performing the procedure) and nurses were kind, thoughful, reassuring, informative and respectful. I never once felt out of control and all my decisions were respected. I wanted to start without sedative or painkiller, and this was no problem and halfway through, I requested painkiller which was quickly and kindly administered.
While the preparation and test itself are unpleasant, I felt like I received the best care from a team who were efficient and professional - but who also had hearts of gold!
