What I liked
the warfarin clinics held at this hospital discriminate against GP's practices that do not run their own warfarin clinics.there is never a doctor on duty to write prescriptions of warfarin.Non of the nurses are qualified prescribing nurses. This means patients have to return direct to the pharmacy several days later to collect their prescriptions. This means also incuring an additional parking fee to collect the prescription as well as taking additional time of work. This shoddy arrangement has existed for the last 3 yrs.Patients are caught in a costs dispute between local surgeries and the hospital.
What could be improved
Have a duty doctor in attendance who will write prescriptions. Has the hospital not heard of trained prescribing nurses? How can a department fully function when there is no doctor ever available? The pharmacy is situated in a seperate part of the hospital, liasion between the warfarin clinic and the pharmacy just does not exist.
Anything else?
Fantastic appointment staff and front desk sadly let down by this existing dispute as mentioned
"Disheartening nursing from this dept."
