My complaint isn't about the services so much, in fact I have only been in for an X-Ray which was quick and efficient, although I wasn't happy about having to wait in a gown in an area where the general public were also allowed to wait, though away from the main waiting room area.
My complaint is about the appalling waste of money spent on this building. It looks amazing, like a five star hotel, but at a time when the NHS is screaming for more funds and there are not enough beds for patients at hospitals all over the country, how on earth can there be any justification for paying for a building with a huge entrance hall, which must cost a fortune to heat in the winter, two glass lifts which seems to be twice what was needed (the building looked almost empty when I was there), a "balloon" chandelier which I believe cost £30,000 (and apparently there are two of them), and a general feel of "no expense spared" in the build and facilities. Don't get me wrong, it's brilliant, but is this what our taxes should be spent on when the NHS seems to be in perpetual crisis? The ridiculous thing is what is really needed is more parking space outside, not trees and plants. Parking facilities are woefully inadequate and the surrounding has blanket coverage of double yellow lines or resident's parking, yet the designers don't seem to think that parking spaces were a major consideration. Oh, and I ticked 1 star for "same sex accommodation" because I'm one of those people who isn't comfortable with that. It's an issue with the whole building, many of us value our privacy and are not fans of everything being open plan, which as I mentioned must cost a lot more to heat in the winter.
