"day of my life lost"

About: Russells Hall Hospital / Accident and emergency

I was advised to go to A & E on 13 of april 2019 , I am a bowel cancer patient with a stitched up hand from a work injury .

I was in agony with my condition .

I was expected but did not see a doctor for 3 hours .

I was asked what was i there for and what should they do for me ,I was left in a corridor instead being taken to xray .

After 11 hours i was offered a paracetamol .

My whole experience was traumatising

Dear Mr Williams

Firstly, we would like to say thank you for writing in at what must be a traumatic time for you. We constantly strive to deliver the very best care for all of our patients and we are really disheartened that we seem to have fallen short on this occasion.

Whilst we have forwarded your feedback to our emergency department, we would welcome the opportunity to understand more about the issues that led to the experience you have described.

We strongly encourage you to contact our Patient Advice & Liaison Service (PALS) on Freephone 0800 073 0510 or email dgft.pals@nhs.net who will be happy to discuss and support you to investigate this further.
