"Referred to Assessment Centre"

About: Wexham Park Hospital / Accident and emergency

I was referred by my my GP yesterday for very severe headaches. The doctor who saw me first was excellent, very friendly, courteous & treated me with dignity. I went to the new building,it’s marvellous & extremely clean, unlike the previous one,I was very impressed. The consultant who saw me next said’ your GP shouldn’t have referred you here, this is for emergency cases only., although he did do his best to examine me.My headaches which I was suffering for almost 2 weeks were the worst kind

I ever had, the sharp pain would wake me up in the middle of the night. My GP did the right thing by referring me for investigation. What is one meant to do? Suffer in silence till something fatal happens or get it attended to? Overall, the service was good.

Dear Anonymous

I am glad that you like our new building and you had good service from our staff, there are ways your GP should refer you for headaches to our Neuro dept so I am sorry they did not do this as this may have been easier for you? I hope your headaches are better now?

regards
