"Lack of understanding"

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / Day Surgery

(as a service user),

0/10 for “my name is”

0/10 for person-centredness

0/10 for general human kindness

Arrived with my partner for procedure at 11.30am. Unfriendly ward clerk told my partner within 30s “come back at teatime.”  I asked “if I’m not taken til 4pm can’t either my partner sit beside me or I’ll wait in the waiting room with him.”

“No”

No explanation, no understanding that I am (& my partner is) nervous.

At least Day Surgery at Queen Margaret has rules for the sake of having rules eh - terrible when patients and their loved ones get in the way of rules.

Shameful.

Dear 0 out of 10 NHS Fife

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback on Care Opinion. The care you describe is not what we would want for our patients and I am really sorry for your poor experience.

We absolutely could have made provision for your partner to stay and support you and I was disappointed to read that this did not happen. Coming into hospital is an anxious time for patients and their loved ones and I agree that a bit of kindness and understanding may have made all the difference to you.

I would be really keen to understand a bit more about your time with us and would be grateful if you could give me a call on 01383 623623 ext 23010.

I look forward to speaking with you

Kind regards

Nola
