"Pregnancy midwife care"

About: Lorn & Islands Hospital / Maternity care Royal Alexandra Hospital / Maternity care (Ward 31)

(as a service user),

Our original midwife was signed off sick after two appointments (hope she is ok now), so we swapped to Rosie.

Rosie took the time to build a bond and understanding with us, she listened to and answered our concerns and questions, she helped a great deal with my fear of having blood taken and she was so positive and cheerful. She always went above and beyond (e.g. having a note on our file to call her if she wasn't due to be working and she'd come in, if she could). We felt very comfortable with her and really looked forward to the water birth in Oban, with her (hopefully) present.

When things went very pear-shaped and we had to go to Paisley for induction, she explained everything, tried her best to get us the most time possible before the induction to try to start labour spontaneously ourselves, gave us a great sweep (that was totally emotionally comfortable, despite where her hand was!) and called regularly for updates during the induction and labour. She was even going to try to come down for the labour to support us, but in the end was unable to as there was a birth in Oban.

A totally brilliant midwife!

Dear keller

Congratulations on your recent birth.

Lovely to read how well supported you felt during your pregnancy and Rosie does sound brilliant! Sorry you weren't able to give birth in Oban as you had hoped but great how Rosie kept in touch with you after your transfer to Paisley - supporting you from afar, whilst at the same time supporting another birth in Oban!

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments. I will make sure that Rosie and the midwifery team in Oban are made aware of your very positive feedback.

Wishing you and your family well.

Fiona Campbell
