"I really need some reassurance"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Orthopaedics Stirling Care Village / Minor injuries unit

(as the patient),

I am writing to let you know how deeply let down I feel by the way my case has been handled.

8 weeks ago I was subjected to an attack and subsequently my arm was broken.

I attended Stirling Minor Injuries Unit Monday morning where I was diagnosed with a broken humerus bone. A brace was put on my arm and I attended an appointment at F. V. Hospital, Larbert in early March to be told the bone was not knitting together and was actually worse.

I was in so much pain my own doctor prescribed Tramadol and paracetamol to help alleviate the pain.

In mid March I returned for a further x-ray and examination and told it was worse and would require surgery. I was told to be on stand-by over the weekend and on the Sunday I received a phone call and told to fast and would receive a telephone call Monday morning. I had to call the hospital Monday lunchtime to be told nothing was happening as the plate for my arm was only being delivered that day. I was told I would get a phone call Tuesday - no call!

I telephoned yet again and was told to call Wednesday morning. I received a call Wednesday afternoon and told to fast and be at hospital for 8am Thursday. I was told at 8. 30am to go home as there had been an emergency and to wait for a phone call and it definitely would not be Friday.

I appreciate emergencies happen and they take priority but I sat in all weekend waiting for a phone call - nothing. I phoned Sunday afternoon and was told they would phone back after the Trauma meeting Monday afternoon - no call. I phoned back to be told nothing would happen till April.

I am self employed earning no money to support my family and really need some reassurance that I will definitely be getting my operation in April as advised.

Yours sincerely
