"Peterborough District Hospital Endoscopy/Colonoscopy"

I received my appointment for a Colonoscopy within weeks and was offered a Sunday appointment - Great for a working mum.

I have had the worst experience of the NHS in the last year, my mum died in another NHS hospital under questionable circumstances and we are still waiting for answers from the hospital about her care.

Because of this and all the bad press about poor care recently I was very nervous about the procedure.

Of course I did not share this with the staff, because of the poor treatment mum received and we have received since, I was petrified they would hold it against me, think I was a troublemaker.

Jenny - the nurse who looked after me right through the procedure - answered all my questions clearly (I had lots!) and explained exactly what would happen. She was professional, patient and caring and made what is not the nicest procedure as dignified as possible. The consultant was also reassuring and talked me through the procedure, and the aftercare nurse was also lovely.

Thank you all the staff at Peterborough City Hospital Endoscopy unit, especially Jenny. You'll never know how much you all helped me regain a little of my shattered trust in the NHS.
