My waters broke 5 weeks earlier than my due date, so everything was unexpected.
We phoned up the assessment unit who advised us to come in when we were ready. On arrival I had a check up and was told to go back home as I wasn't dilated enough, and it could be another 2 days. After puking up a couple of times, we went home and after a couple of hours came back in when my contractions were stronger. I was seen at the assessment unit who straight away sent me to the labour suite.
I really wanted a water birth, and as soon as the midwife started it I started to feel sick and dizzy so opted for the bed. The 2 midwives (student & experienced) were really helpful, patient and everything happened very quickly. I was really appreciative of all their help and patience as my hubby was telling me I wasn't listening to anyone at that time.
The staff at the ward were a great help. I stayed 5 days as I wasn't confident with breast feeding, however they were a great help when I kept asking them. I even asked them to bathe my son in front of me, which they did, and taught me good tips.
My stay was really pleasant and I can honestly say I had a very good time at the hospital. Thanks to staff. I felt very happy especially as I gave birth 5 weeks early and my family wasn't here. The staff really helped me and I hadn't felt alone.
