The Surgical Reception Ward was clean and I cannot fault the care of the anaesthetist, surgeon and specialist nurse when I came in on Thursday for SNS swap under a general anaesthetic.
I had my operation at 930 and I was back on the ward by 1130.
This was all great but then this is where I have my question - I was discharged at 3pm to make a two hour journey on public transport to get home by myself.
I was initially told I was going to be an inpatient as I had a GA.
Are anaesthetics so safe now that it is now common policy to discharge people home unaccompanied?
I queried the nurse twice but was told I could go.
I was fine and I am fine but it just seems to be a drastic change from when I've had anaesthetics before.
"Is this new policy?"
