My brother was involved in an accident with a heater, and suffered a significant burn, requiring transfer from FV to the burns unit in Glasgow. I received a minor burn. The care from the front door in Forth Valley Emergency Department, through to the burns unit in Glasgow, could not have been better.
I would like to make special mention of Mrs MacKintosh in Forth Valley ED. Over the past 4 years, as a patient or relative, I have had several visits to the ED, and by chance it has been Mrs MacKintosh on each occasion, and her professionalism and care has been consistently fantastic, with a unique and holistic approach. Thank you.
The ambulance crew, Stuart and Charley, put myself and my brother at ease throughout transfer, and on arriving at the burns unit in GRI, we were met by Nurses Margaret and Elaine, who went above and beyond the call of duty to tend not only to my brother, who had the significant injury, but also to myself. Accompanying my brother from Larbert to Glasgow in the ambulance, I fully expected to find a place to stay near the hospital, which I knew would be a challenge at midnight. However, I was warmly offered accommodation in the relatives room near the ward for the night, and after a stressful evening, this made a huge difference. Thank you.
I work in the Service myself, in a predominantly elective speciality, and it is moments of crisis such as this that distil how lucky we are to have such committed individuals there when we need them.
