I was looked after well at the time of the birth and was very impressed with staff attitude and procedure during the c-section - so am very grateful for that care. Also the midwives were attentive and helpful in teaching how to breast feed. However during pregnancy I originally had no continuity or regular midwife contact and felt out of touch which was quite alienating being a first time mum with a relatively high risk birth situation. Luckily we eventually had Electric as our team who provided invaluable care and reassurance once they realised we were vulnerable. We are indebted to amazing teams like Electric and urge King's NHS Foundation Trust to retain and increase these vital midwife posts and case loading - to help reduce stress and uphold physical and mental health for all members of the community, as good midwifery affects the pregnant womens' partners and children, not just her.
