I was on holiday near Keswick when at 30 weeks pregnant I noticed I had not felt my baby move all Sunday. After trying to get baby move without success, I found the closest maternity care unit which was West Cumberland and gave them a call. I was asked to come in to be checked, even though it was around 8pm on Sunday evening, the midwife on duty was very caring and even though by this point baby had started moving again, I was put on the monitor for 30 min, measuring baby's heartbeat and movements. As it was the first time I've experienced reduced movements but it looked that all is well, I was advised to return to the hotel, but keep an eye on baby's pattern and tell my midwife about it at the next appointment.
The whole time there I wasn't made to feel like a burden or anyway silly once the baby had started moving again and didn't have any issues.
Another pregnant lady being monitored behind privacy curtain next to us also was receiving great care and attention by another midwife on duty.
"Professional and outstanding care"
