I have had reoccurring problems with my eyes for the past few months. So I have spent quite a lot of time in the eye casualty department. I can't say enough how amazing all the staff are from the receptionists, nurses, doctors, consultants and health carers they are so helpful, friendly and reassuring.
However, the only thing I think needs to be thought about is the waiting times. I understand that if you get sent to the eye clinic for an unplanned appointment you might have to wait a little longer. But if there are patients that have a set time for there appointments they should be seen with in a set time. I had waited more than 2 hours on a few occasions to be seen by my consultant. I think the planned appointments and emergency appointments need to be separated. I'm only 30 years old but I seen 80 to 90 year olds waiting for the same amount of time I was it's a long time for some older patients. This comment isn't aimed towards the staff I feel that they are under an awful amount of pressure but a few adjustments could make things a lot easier.
