Having felt flu-ish, despite having had a flu vaccination, I eventually saw my GP who immediately arranged for me to go to hospital. I was admitted to the Royal Surrey County Hospital that day and was placed in the cardiology ward. I was diagnosed with Community Acquired Pneumonia, with pleurisy and treated for 10 days with IV and oral antibiotics. The service I received was superb, from the cheery ward-cleaner, the tea ladies, the catering staff, the nurses, the phlebotomist and Dr Chua and his team. The food was superb and not the gruel of past jokes. After the 10 days I was discharged home, with further antibiotics. I have now recovered fully. I cannot express how grateful I am to all those I met during my stay and to those hidden away in Radiography, the Laboratories and, of course the kitchens.
"I have now fully recovered"
