I was admitted to the Golden Jubilee and had a camera down my throat that morning. The doctors refused to discharge me until I had a swallow test. The day after admission, I went down to radiology and was told there had been no staff in the morning and the machine was now broken. The engineer did not arrive until the following afternoon and I was there until the day after that when a radiologist agreed to do the test in another lab.
I have no complaint about the nurses etc who acted courteously and professionally at all times. I am concerned with the fact I was left in overnight for 3 nights unnecessarily, that there was no "back up" in place, and the idea of using a slightly different machine in the same building came into play due to administrative failings. Are the machines regularly maintained? Had an anaesthetic machine broken would all operations be put off for three days?
