After hearing lot of terrible stories about labour from my friends and family members, I was quite stressed about it and ready to ask for epidural as soon as I get to the hospital.
Surprise, surprise, I gave birth using gas and air only and my labour in LRH was actually a truly great experience.
I extremely appreciate a great support from the hospital staff which made my labour very smooth and pretty easy. I was nicely surprised with the quality of the services provided in general, e.g. water birth bath and hospital food. It was also great to have my partner with me all the time - during the labour as well as in the postnatal ward.
I was also nicely and successfully encouraged and supported in terms of breastfeeding and receive many useful tips regarding taking care of my first baby.
I definitely would recommend LRH to anyone planning to give birth in this area of London.
In terms of areas of improvement, I would only suggest to make the bureaucracy a bit more efficient. Getting an invoice for the labour after submitting all the documents confirming my eligibility to receive a free healthcare in the UK was not a pleasant surprise. Having said that, it took me just one email to get the invoice cancelled and receive apologies.
"My labour was a surprisingly great experience"
