"great reception staff, bad doctor."

About: Leighton Hospital

What I liked

Reception staff very friendly considering it can be seen as a sensitive subject (GUM Clinic). Very welcoming and helpful.

What could be improved

I was the first person in the surgery at 8:55 that morning, and specified I did not mind seeing a male or a female doctor as I was in a rush. I was shocked to see none of the 10 people in the waiting room being seen to before 9:25, and even more shocked to have 2 people seen before me, even though they had turned up at least 15 minutes later than me. The doctor I saw had been late and strolled in at half past 9. The doctor I saw refused to remove the contraceptive implant in my arm unless I gave a "proper reason". I said I didn't want unnecessary hormones pumping around my body, and the doctor finally agreed to remove it after 20 minutes of arguing, and seemed to change their mind when the assistant came in and agreed to remove it without question. The doctor tried to tell me that it didn't cause any change to periods or weight, until I produced the leaflet that I had received with my implant, showing that these are both major side affects of the implant. The doctor gave completely conflicting information to the doctor who had put it in!

Anything else?

Appalling service from doctor. They didn't even tell me that the anaesthetic could make me dizzy and to take care getting up quickly etc, as I had to ask the assistant on the way out who informed me to be careful driving. Conflicting information given-dangerous when it affects sexual health, and in my case mental health as it lead to a further medical condition.
